Hi! welcome to the del.icio.us antinuclear network!
Del.icio.us doesn't give us an organized way to talk to each within their system or via e-mail. This link is an alternative way to make contact and extend our network!
This webpage has three purposes:
1. Share a way for you to get into e-mail contact with members of this network (see bottom);
2. Help you develop your own del.icio.us skillset;
3. Coordinate del.icio.us tags that can be used to organize news, alerts, events and other critical information for blogs and websites.
If you are just starting to use del.icio.us you might want to watch the video on using Del.i cio.us Bookmarksw The olive green frame to the right also includes videos and links to the larger set of Web 2.0 tools that are reshaping the internet today.
If you want to do more than have a passive network of folks doing social bookmarking, that's okay, but this is about activism, using the online social bookmarking tool on a whole new level.
Social Network Bookmarking 101
You arrived here because somebody sent you the for:???? tag about this link! This tag is used to share bookmarks with your network, in this case the newly emerging antinuclear tagging network.
Make sure you see the Del.icio.us video. It will help you get the basics if you are new to social bookmarking. Its easy to do and will help share valuable online resources!
Once you have imported your own bookmarks from your browser, and started to build your own online list of tags you will want to syncronize several key tags with the larger group. so that important links can be quickly shared across the network. Please don't share tags with us about other issues, unless you have made personal contact with whom you are sending it to! (del.icio.us spam!)
Note that everybody will not necessarily want everybody elses tags, but organizations will be very interested in the following shared tags:
nuke.news
nuke.orgs
nuke.orgs.int
nuke.alerts
nuke.events
Other specific tags may also evolve into major segments of this network such as DU DOE Downwinders etc. If the group wants to change tag names as this network grows, it is easy to use your del.icio.us settings option to rename your tags if necessary, so don't be too concerned about how you tag links!
By standardizing several key tags on our network, that tag can be used with the del.icio.us scripts tool (located in your settings from your del.icio.us page) to post critical resources to your blogs and websites. An important example is nuclear news (nuke.news tag)stories. Whether you do it with an rss feed or standard URL, you then have an online news source for your site that will be up to date and valuable for you.
However, just doing news stories is just the bottom of the barrel in how a networked tag can be used. We should have a coordinated nuke.alerts tag, nuke.orgs tag, nuke.orgs.int etc. as well. Click here for an example (look at my social bookmarking blogroll about half way down) of how these scripts look on your blog or website. Note that I haven't added any notes into the tags which can be done later to expand on details about the link!
These are just the first steps in sharing resources fully or partially! Getting onto this network is just the beginning. Creating resources for an extended community of activists will not only benefit them it will draw attention to our issue as individuals discover the coordinated efforts. Bookmarking is in its infancy. There are at least a dozen major toolsets I'm wanting to see that will make this option even more powerful. However, they are not yet available. :(
It is absolutely cool to build your own private network off of this network, so that your organization has its own resources! If you want to mirror the nuke.news tag for your own exclusive use, that is fine too! Hopefully you will want to post your nuke.news tags to the network using the for:aanergynet tag or to others that want to maintain a full news resource.
Critical tagging concern: As more folks join, there is a major chance that people could be duplicating bookmarks that others have already sent to the network.
Before you send 10 or more for:??? tags to other people on the network all at once, make sure the links haven't already been posted, especially for the following tags special tags that represent one of the most valuable resources of this network!

About me.
I'm the webmaster at Energyy-net.org. It's actually been online since 1988. I've been working with computers since 1968. I build computers, used to do programming, web design, maintain a modest high speed Internet coop in a community center with a a couple dozen groups, and have been putting out a major online news service for over a decade now. Yeah, geeksquad indeed.
