The poll by Borge and Associate Firm for El Periodico newspaper gave the Social Democratic candidate 39.4 percent of the votes and his opponent from the Patriot Party (PP) 35.1 percent. The sampling was done between October 20 and 25 and 1008 voters were interviewed in the entire national territory. The same exercise done with simulated ballots places the UNE candidate in the leading position with 39.4 percent of support and Perez Molina second with 36.6. Colom won the first round of September 9 elections, dropped in subsequent polls and now has first place again. In the last few weeks the candidate has gained ground during his visit to popular markets, assembly plants and poor towns of the border of the capital.
