Cuban Boxers Not For Sale

New York, Oct 24 (Prensa Latina) The World Boxing Championship is in
its second day with the absence of Cuba, and the reasons why were
acknowledged by the Taiwan Ching-Kuo Wu, President of the World Boxing
Association (AIBA).

Ching-Kuo regretted the absence of Cuban boxers, considered the best of
the world, but approved the reasons stated by the leaders for not
attending the event at the US City of Chicago.

"Professional promoters are constantly hounding Cuban boxers with money
as well as other countries' and ALBA is trying to make national
federations play a more active role to avoid these kind of situations,"
said the sport leader.

He expects that Cuba will classify it boxers in the two regional
pre-Olympic tournaments for the Olympic games that tentatively will
take place in Trinidad and Tobago and Guatemala.

"Cuba is a power that has increased this sport with a big boxing school
and we are sure that its team will be in Beijing," commented Chin-Kuo
Wu.
