Cuba, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to Strengthen Ties

Havana, Oct 23 (Prensa Latina) The deputy prime minister of Saint
Vincent and the Grenadines, Louis Straker, is heading a delegation from
his country that will participate in the Sixth Session of the Joint
Inter-governmental Commission between Cuba and that Caribbean state.

Straker, who is also the foreign minister and foreign trade minister,
arrived in Havana on Monday night. He told Prensa Latina that his visit
would strengthen bilateral ties, which have been fundamental for the
two countries' development.

He noted Cuba's active participation in the Caribbean Community
(CARICOM) in such issues as education and public health.

Straker expressed interest in deepening exchange in agriculture, sports
and energy, sectors in which Cuba has made great achievements.

Rogelio Sierra, director of the Latin American Department at the Cuban
Foreign Ministry, and other officials welcomed the Straker and the
delegation accompanying him at the Jose Marti International Airport.
