Classified by Cuban President Fidel Castro as one of the most humanitarian works of the Revolution, the educational center trains the pupils in the specialized techniques in the use of the stick, in the Braille reading and writing system, and in the use of the abacus to make quick and complex mathematical operations. Director of the center, Jose Raul Baquet, noted that a classroom for the teaching of computer sciences has been recently opened, which also gives access to the students to virtual portals, and international meetings and courses for people with visual impairments.
