Mexican Activist Blasts US Blockade of Cuba

Havana, Oct 17 (acn) The coordinator of the Mexican Movement in
Solidarity with Cuba, Jesus Escamilla, has called on the world 
community to continue the struggle for lifting the economic, financial 
and commercial blockade imposed by Washington against Cuba for more 
than 45 years.

Escamilla classified the US blockade as criminal in statements to PL 
news agency, and referred to the program of activities carried out in 
several Mexican states to condemn the White House's aggressive policy 
against the island.

Escamilla said that in several Mexican cities the movement is promoting 
the screening of an Argentinean documentary that reveals the tremendous 
harm caused to the Cuban people by the US blockade.

The Mexican activist also noted that successive US administrations 
since 1959 have shown little respect for the decisions of United 
Nations member states, which every year vote for the lifting of the US 
blockade of the island.

Likewise, Escamilla blasted the silence of the European Union 
concerning the USA's restrictive measures against Cuba, while 
highlighting the achievements of the Cuban people in the fields of 
healthcare, education and sports -- despite the blockade.
