Cuba to Introduce New Legislation on Workplace Security

Havana, Oct 17 (acn) A new legislation on workplace security will come 
in effect in Cuba January 2008, with the aim of improving the current 
policy of risk-control in the island.

In statements to Trabajadores online newspaper, an official at the 
Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Esther Marquez, said the new 
legislation also seeks to introduce progressively a National 
Comprehensive System on Workplace Security.

Marquez also said that a manual on workplace security is being put 
together that will allow every center to assess their level of security 
and implement minimum protection requirements when needed.

The new laws will be discussed by Cuban workers at the National Meeting 
on Workplace Security to take place in Havana in November.
