The representatives of those opposed to the agreement demanded in addition a response from the top electoral organization, since US authorities interfered in the issue through the ambassador and legislators of that country. Leonardo Mendez, of the Patriotic Committee of Cartago, considered the TSE never established same advertising rights for both sides and placed the opposition in disadvantage regarding those in favor. We think there was a fraud at the polls. People were pressured into voting, they feared to lose their jobs, so it was not democratic, he expressed.
