French Artist Pays Tribute to Che Guevara

Havana, Oct 12 (acn) Renowned French novel writer and photographer 
Patrick Bard launched a graphic collection called "The Che's routes" 
which follows the saga of the film "Motorcycle Diaries," on Friday in 
Paris.

Bard, who is a tireless traveler, was surprised in Latin America by the 
constant presence of Ernesto Che Guevara. "I was surprised by that man 
whose face could just as easily appear in a house as on a t-shirt and 
that caught my attention. Then I decided to get to know Che Guevara," 
he said to PL news agency.

"I did not mean to profit from the 40th anniversary of Che Guevara's 
assassination with the launching. I followed his route except for 
Salvador, Costa Rica and Panama. I consider this work as very personal 
and I'm not interested in the commercial success but in the people's 
acknowledgment," stressed Bard.

The French photographer said he is fascinated by the figure of Ernesto 
Che Guevara. He also noted his artistic work pays tribute to the ideals 
of the legendary Cuban-Argentinean fighter since he also was shocked by 
the poverty and the inequality existing in Latin America when he was 
there.

The photo collection, published under the sponsorship of Ulysse 
magazine and the publishing house SEUIL, has been sold in French 
bookstores since September 27.
