Cuban Revolution's Achievements Highlighted in Moscow

Havana, Oct 11 (acn) First Latin American cosmonaut, Cuban Brigade 
General Arnaldo Tamayo Mendez, said in Moscow that foreign forces will 
never destroy the achievements attained by his country in the fields of 
culture, education and healthcare.

During his speech at the closing ceremony of the 3rd Regional Meeting 
in Solidarity held in the Russian capital, Tamayo noted that the social 
programs undertaken by the Cuban government ratify the island's 
people's decision to preserve its achievements.

Tamayo, who has received the honorary title of Hero of the Cuban 
Republic, also pointed out that the Bush administration has reinforced 
the commercial, financial and economic blockade imposed by Washington 
on the island over the last four decades, reports PL news agency.

The Cuban official expressed his confidence in the support of the 
international community for his country at the coming United Nations 
General Assembly, where Cuba will present once again a draft resolution 
to end the US blockade on the island.

Arnaldo Tamayo, who flew into the space for the first time with his 
Soviet colleague Yuri Romanenko in 1980, said the meeting held in 
Moscow has shown once more the tight bonds of friendship existing 
between Cuba and Russia.
