Plot against Paraguayan Presidential Candidate

Asuncion, Oct 11 (Prensa Latina) Paraguayan opposition denounced a plot
by the governing party to tarnish the political image of presidential
candidate Fernando Lugo.

Blas Llano, president of the Radical Authentic Liberal Party (PLRA),
noted that the plot is aimed at discrediting Lugo before Paraguayan
public opinion.

He said they are trying to link the ex bishop to kidnappers by
publishing doctored photos. They also slander about his alleged
paternity and have presented other accusations to cast doubts on his
ethical behavior during the time he was a priest.

Llano added that the dirty campaign against the candidate for the
Patriotic Alliance for Change has gone through different stages, one of
which was the release of ex General Lino Oviedo, who has been used to
weaken the opposition.

The well-devised plan is aimed at confusing voters before the 2008
presidential elections, stressed the leader of the PLRA, the historic
rival of the Colorado Party.
