Ecuador: Correa Overhauling Cabinet

Quito, Oct 9 (Prensa Latina) Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa is
thinking about restructuring the government, after his ministers
presented their resignations at his request.

Correa, who is attending the acts for the 187th anniversary of
Guayaquil's independence, stressed it is essential to replace several
State secretaries to intensify the state action.

In this connection, Correa asked the ministers to present their
resignation letters to reshuffle the executive, after his movement
Alianza Pais won the Constituent Assembly elections.

Several ministers confirmed they have put their posts at the chief of
State's disposal, for him to make the necessary changes in the cabinet.

The announcement was made after Correa launched a new oil policy, which
stipulates that 99 percent of additional income resulting from the high
oil price on the international market will go to the State.

The president recognized in recent days that some ministers still do
not understand the government is encouraging a people's revolution.
