Re: [NYTr] US Secy of War Calls Chavez a "Threat" - Venezuela Responds >Gates then warned that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez was mainly a >"threat to the freedom and economic prosperity of the people of >Venezuela." According to Gates, Chavez "has been very generous in >offering their resources to people around the world, when perhaps >these resources could be better used to alleviate some of the >economic problems facing the people of Venezuela." ``Physician, heal thyself!'' This saying should be applied to the Bush administration. We squander 3 or 4 billion dollars of American taxpayer money every week on the slaughter of Iraqis and Afghans. We claim to spend it for the freedom and security of Afghanistan and Iraq when there is none. We accuse Iran and Syria of destabilizing the Middle East when we have done the most of it by dropping bombs daily in scores of air attacks on civilians and by hiring Blackwater and other mercenary armies to wreak chaos in the Middle East. Plundering the American treasury, the war criminals Bush, Gates, Rice, Cheney, et al. should instead tell themselves: "perhaps these resources could be better used to alleviate some of the economic problems facing the people" (of the US of America). George Bush spent our money dropping bombs instead of providing health care for our children, the most important resource of any society. The US policy makers can choose to be good. But instead, they choose to be evil and make America an evil country, threatening everyone around the world. US Congressman Tom Lantos reportedly is very concerned that the billion dollar US embassy in Baghdad isn't opening on time. We should wonder why he is so concerned about opening the entity, an entity which is in all shapes and forms intended for evildoing! This mammoth structure will go down world history as the symbol of American hegemony, if it survives. But it is unlikely to survive knowing that Bush's determined to confront Iran, with America's superior air power at his disposal. (It's like giving an irresponsible kid a box of matches. He will surely use them to wreak destruction.) I think Bush's plan to attack Iran is the real reason for him to delay the outfit's opening until next year at the earliest. (It's simple: Had it been open for business this fall as planned and had Bush then proceeded to order an attack of Iran, the chance that the embassy would not come under retaliatory attacks is nil. Besides, what the people who are responsible for building the embassy know would likely be exploited for retaliatory purposes. We would be those who live in the proverbial glass house.) Before we keep going around and attacking others, we should ask why we should expect to be safer and have lasting peace when we keep hurting others and making everyone nervous about our presence. In other words, what is the wisdom for us to throw stones when we actually live in a glass house? Yes, the neocons believe it would help Israel. (I doubt it.) And the neocons are so powerful that they control our politicians who have the power to make wars. But why do we American people allow ourselves to let the neocons control our politicians in Washington to such a degree that America should lose all credibility to be good? I don't understand. lo yeeOn * ================================================================= NY Transfer News Collective * A Service of Blythe Systems Since 1985 - Information for the Rest of Us Our main website: http://www.blythe.org List Archives: http://blythe-systems.com/pipermail/nytr/ Subscribe: http://blythe-systems.com/mailman/listinfo/nytr =================================================================
