[NYTr] Student Tributes to Che Planned All over Latin America Date: Thu, 4 Oct 2007 15:03:23 -0500 (CDT) Via NY Transfer News Collective * All the News that Doesn't Fit Agencia Cubana de Noticias (ACN) http://ainch.ain.cu/mailman/listinfo/ingles Latin American Students to Pay Homage to Che Guevara Havana, Oct 4 (acn) The Latin American and Caribbean Student Organization (OCLAE) has organized a number of activities to pay tribute to Cuban-Argentinean guerrilla fighter Ernesto Che Guevara, said president of the continental association, Luis Arza Valdes. In statements to the acn news agency, Valdes referred to the Central American Meeting of Students to take place on Friday and Saturday in Managua, Nicaragua, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the murder of Che Guevara in Bolivia. He noted that the OCLAE will sponsor meetings, seminars, talks and forums on October 8 in 23 countries to honor the memory and the ideals of Che Guevara. In Bolivia, student and social organization have organized an intense program of activities that will conclude with an activity in the Higuera, which became a point of pilgrimage after the assassination of Che Guevara in that spot on orders of the CIA in 1967. Likewise, Cuba will host several university social forums, throughout October from Monday, as part of the preparations for the 15th Latin American and Caribbean Student Congress that will be dedicated to Che Guevara this year.
