The creation of CPC began several months ago countrywide, and its national cabinet will be established Friday during a public act headed by President Daniel Ortega. According to the leader, the objective of those organizations is that the people have an entity where they can claim the government, ministers, mayors, and even the president. "No one can remain untouchable here," Ortega said last night after visiting a town in the capital, where the Councils are helping the government in the sale of low-priced beans to counteract food speculation and shortage. The Sandinista leader, who returned to power in January after 16 years in the opposition, also reiterated the Political Constitution guarantees the people's right to organize. "In the first place, the people must be respected. The people are power," affirmed Ortega, who rejected the criticism of the opposition, which has mobilized against the new grass-root organization, and tries to discredit it. hr dig nm PL-21 * ================================================================= NY Transfer News Collective * A Service of Blythe Systems Since 1985 - Information for the Rest of Us Our main website: http://www.blythe.org List Archives: http://blythe-systems.com/pipermail/nytr/ Subscribe: http://blythe-systems.com/mailman/listinfo/nytr =================================================================
