Cordoba is expected to appear before a Senate plenary tomorrow to inform of the conduct of efforts toward a humanitarian agreement, which were abruptly interrupted by the Colombian government on Wednesday. She requested the Senate presidency to hold an open session so that the whole country can learn every detail about the process. However, this was denied by Congress President Nancy Gutierrez, who said it must be a closed-door session because of the serious crisis triggered in the last few hours by a strong verbal confrontation between Presidents Chavez and Alvaro Uribe. The Congress plenary is to have the final say. Sunday night the French Government offered political asylum to Senator Piedad Cordoba, who has been subject to threats in the last few days, as the climate of relations between Caracas and Bogota has worsened. ef ccs rma rc PL-46 * ================================================================= NY Transfer News Collective * A Service of Blythe Systems Since 1985 - Information for the Rest of Us Our main website: http://www.blythe.org List Archives: http://blythe-systems.com/pipermail/nytr/ Subscribe: http://blythe-systems.com/mailman/listinfo/nytr =================================================================
