Relations between Cuban and Dominican Parliaments Praised

Havana, Nov 23 (acn) The president of the National Parliament of the 
Dominican Republic, Julio Cesar Valentin, affirmed on Thursday that 
relations between the Dominican legislative body and the Cuban National 
Assembly are excellent.

During a meeting with the Cuban ambassador to Santo Domingo, Juan 
Astiasaran, Valentin announced that he will visit Havana next year at 
the invitation of the Cuban Parliament.

According to Prensa Latina news agency, at the end of the meeting, 
Astiasaran spoke to reporters and thanked the Dominican people for 
their recent campaign in solidarity with the five Cuban anti-terrorist 
fighters who remain unjustly imprisoned in the United States.

For his part, the leader of the Dominican Parliament noted that it is a 
contradiction that the Cuban Five - as they are internationally known - 
remain in prison while international and self-confessed terrorist Luis 
Posada Carriles walks the streets of the United States as a free man.

Also present in the meeting, which took place as part of a visit of the 
Cuban diplomat to the venue of the legislative body in Santo Domingo, 
was deputy Juan Compres, president of the Cuba-Dominican Republic 
Parliamentary Friendship Group.
