Cuban surgeon Alejandro Garcia Gutierrez, a professor at Institute of Gastroenterology in Havana, said the successful implementation of this technique by Cuba in its fourteen provinces was highlighted at the scientific event. Garcia Gutierrez referred to the advantages of minimal invasive surgery and noted that some 40,000 operations are carried out annually in the island using this method. According to the expert, some of the benefits of minimal invasive surgery include smaller scars, less post operative pain and quicker recovery.
