Military Exercise Fine-tunes Cuba's Defense Potential

Havana, Nov 20 (acn) The further improvement of joint work by military 
commanding centers and the training of units with the Cuban 
Revolutionary Armed Forces to defend the island from a possible enemy 
aggression are key goals of a preparatory military exercise named 
Moncada 2007, underway since Monday mainly in central and western Cuba.

The training action takes place prior to the National Exercise 
"Bastion" scheduled for the second half of 2008. Moncada 2007 is part 
of general preparation of regular and non-regular defense forces.

Based on the Cuban defensive conception known as "La guerra de todo el 
pueblo" (All the People's War), the exercise includes a large number of 
military commanding centers, regular units from different forces 
including logistics, the territorial militias plus a large part of the 
population registered in different defense districts.    The training 
will involve air maneuvers and training with different military 
equipment, which shows the modernization undergone by a large part of 
the Cuban combat means.
