Cuba Holds Intl Panel on Urban Agriculture

Havana, Nov 14 (Prensa Latina) Representatives from 30 countries are
taking part in an international panel on urban agriculture and
municipalities, convened by the Government of Havana Province and the
Cuban Association of Agricultural and Forest Technicians.

The panel is part of the 15th meeting of the City Council Cooperation
and Solidarity with Havana, begun Tuesday with a tour of urban
agriculture areas in the Cuban capital.

Main objectives of the meeting include exchanging experiences about
processes of promotion and adoption of urban agriculture as part of
local and national policies, and extending this practice as a strategy
for sustainable development of municipalities.

The event, attended by about 400 authorities from local governments,
including mayors, aldermen, governors, agronomists, urban planners,
international agencies of collaboration and Non Governmental
Organizations from various continents, will discuss sustainable
agricultural development in harmony with environment and society.
