Ortega, who is participating in the Ibero American Summit of 22 Heads of State and Government to conclude this Saturday, indicated that nations of the South need to be united to be strong, with the support of Spain and Portugal. That step, he declared, will be an historical advance in defense of Latin American nations, as opposed to the policies of free market and European countries and US expansionism. Ortega also indicated that for the development of social cohesion it is necessary to develop a more equitable economic and social model. He also said that the planet is extinguishing due to global warming since affluent capitalist countries do not implement the necessary steps to reduce growing environmental pollution. The President also demanded the US end the blockade and aggression against the Cuban Revolution and its people. He demanded Washington immediately release the five Cuban antiterrorists imprisoned there for fighting against terrorist attacks planned by stateside criminal groups, and to judge the international terrorist Luis Posada Carriles. iom gdb obf mf PL-10 *** Nicaraguan Borge Condemns Campaign against ALBA Lima, Nov 10 (Prensa Latina) Nicaraguan ambassador to Peru Tomas Borge condemned the "satanic" campaign against the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas, ALBA, defended by him due to its integrationist character. In statements to Andina News Agency, Borge said ALBA respects sovereignty of each country, and described as ridiculous to think that it seeks having some interference in Peru, as private sectors believe. He thought at same time that it would be beneficial for Peru to integrate to ALBA, even despite having signed a Free Trade Agreement with US. Borge declared to be willing to expose at the Congress of Peru on ALBA and its benefits. "It will be a pleasure for me to go to explain that ALBA more than a commercial treaty is a treaty that has to do with integration, culture, as Simon Bolivar dreamed ", he said. Borge also pointed out that " ALBA houses" do not have any link with the integrationist organization, only composed of governments. He also said those organizations are composed of citizens who wait for some aid from Venezuela, or sectors that indentify with the processes in Cuba, Venezuela or Nicaragua, and express their solidarity with them. iom gdb mrs PL-11 * ================================================================= NY Transfer News Collective * A Service of Blythe Systems Since 1985 - Information for the Rest of Us Our main website: http://www.blythe.org List Archives: http://blythe-systems.com/pipermail/nytr/ Subscribe: http://blythe-systems.com/mailman/listinfo/nytr =================================================================
