Fidel Castro Follows East Cuban Situation: Carlos Lage

Santiago, Cuba, Nov 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Fidel Castro is
following very closely the situation in eastern Cuba due to the floods
left by Tropical Storm Noel, Vice President Carlos Lage stated.

>From the start, Lage said Saturday, the Cuban statesman recalled what
had happened in 1963 with hurricane Flora, when severe downpours
provoked flooding in this Cuban zone.

At the end of a visit to this province to evaluate damages, the Cuban
official pointed out that Fidel Castro is keeping informed of what is
happening and the measures taken to counteract the negative impact.

He said that among important damages are torn roads, already
deteriorated due to lack of resources during the economic crisis and
successive natural events, mainly the accumulation of rains.
