According to Prensa Latina news agency, during the meeting, which was also attended by Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Marcos Rodriguez and by the island's ambassador in Ethiopia Ricardo Garcia, Lazo received the Medal of the African Union. The agenda of the Cuban VP on Tuesday in Addis Ababa also included a visit to Parliament, where he was received by Teshome Toga, president of this legislative body. During the meeting, Lazo and Toga spoke of several topics of mutual interest. The Cuban high-ranking official briefed his host about the electoral system on the island and also about the social programs of the Cuban Revolution and the cooperation initiatives with other countries. For his part, Toga acknowledged the Cuban achievements in the social sector and congratulated the government of the island.
