The Jury gave its Special Award to Cuba and a Mention of Honor to Chile. The films awarded with the three main Coral Prizes were BLuz Silenciosa (Silent Light) by Mexican Carlos Reygadas; BEl aC1o en que mis padres salieron de vacacionesB (The Year my Parents went on Holidays) by Brazilian film maker Cao Hamburguer, and BEl otroB (The other One) by Argentinean director Ariel Rotter. The Mexican film was also entitled to the Amazonia Films Latin American Distribution Award, while Cao Hamburguer?s movie was considered by the jury a work of high sensitivity in approaching human and social aspects related to a specific period of Brazil?s history. Meanwhile, the jury gave its Special Award to the Cuban film BMadrigalB, by film maker Fernando Perez and stressed the masterly treatment given by the director to universal issues like truth and lie. A Mention of Honor was awarded to the film Fiestapatria, by Chilean director Luis R. Viera. The Coral Prize to the Best Director went to Mexican Carlos Reygadas; the Coral to the Best Actor was granted to Argentinean Julio Chavez who played the main character in The Other One. The Prize to the Best Artistic Direction went to the hands of Cuban Erick Grass, who worked in "Madrigal." Other prizes included the Coral to the Best Script granted to Pablo Vierci, Daniel Henriquez and Alejandra Marino in the film "Matar atodos." Juan Carlos MacC-as, Mauricio Santos, Valentina Leduc and Natalia Bruschtein, editors of Cobrador: In God we trust, by Mexican Paul Leduc, received the Coral Award for Best Editing. Best Cinematography Award went to Alexis ZabC) for Silent Light and Beto Villares won the Best Original Music Award for The Year my Parents Went on Vacations. Best Sound Track Coral Award went RaC:l Locatelli for Silent Light. In the short-length category, the Coral Award went to MexicoBs Ver llover, by Elisa Miller.
