The TeleSur prize was created to promote moviemakers with a personal social commitment. This year's award went to Bravo for capturing the significance of the struggle embarked upon by the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo and the extraordinary handling of audiovisual techniques, reports Granma newspaper. In receiving the award, Bravo said "Who Am I" has been the hardest effort of her entire career. She praised the work of TeleSur for showing what is happening in the different countries of the continent. She also made a call to young people to film the new realities of Latin America. Other documentaries by Estela Bravo include "Fidel" (2001), "The Cuban Excludables" (1997) and "Miami-Havana" (1994). The 29th Havana's Latin American Cinema Festival continues in the Cuban capital through Friday, December 14.
