Venezuela, Brazil Plan Strategic Alliance

Caracas, Dec 14 (Prensa Latina) The strategic alliance between
Venezuela and Brazil emerges as an element favoring the development in
two of the main South American economies, supported by their respective
potentialities and signing of new trade agreements.

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva"s brief visit to
Venezuela resulted in the signing of nine deals in health, agriculture,
food, and petro-chemistry.

Energy was once again a key factor, with the decision of Venezuela"s
PDVSA oil company, and Brazil"s PETROBRAS to create a joint venture for
the construction and operation of a refinery in the Brazilian state of
Pernambuco.

The plant will be able to process about 200,000 barrels of oil daily,
with PDVSA supplying up to 100,000 tons daily from the Orinoco Strip.

Lula and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez also analyzed the possibility
of setting up a bilateral investment fund, aimed at supporting the
agreed projects.

The new agreements, signed a few days before the Southern Common Market
Summit, bolster Caracas" stance in favor of regional integration.

Venez Entrepreneurs Laud Talks with Brazil

Caracas, Dec 14 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan entrepreneurs described as
successful the round of negotiations with more than 200 Brazilian
businesspeople and industrialists, prior to President Luiz Inacio Lula
da Silva's visit to Caracas.

Speaking at the technical workshop held on Wednesday, the president of
Entrepreneurs for Venezuela, Alejandro Uzcategui, pointed out that
bilateral trade might increase to three billion and even five billion
dollars next year.

In statements to Venezolana de Television at the Miraflores Palace,
Uzcategui noted that the Brazilian delegation expressed interest in
further increasing exports and imports.

Federacion Porcina President Alberto Codemus congratulated Lula and
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez for strengthening bilateral trade from
the perspective of continental integration.

As part of that mutual interest, Lula and Chavez will witness the
signing of nine cooperation treaties agreed upon by entrepreneurs from
the two countries during the two-day talks on livestock and agriculture.
