During a news conference Friday with Guatemalan President-elect Alvaro Colon, who arrived today in Nicaragua, Ortega repeated his promise to "fight for the unity of the Central American peoples, so with that unity we become integrated." The Nicaraguan president urged a common confrontation to "the challenges of poverty and so that this global economy becomes a fair commerce, with honorable relations in the world." Colon, who will be inaugurated on January 14, said he will work with the other regional nations to construct a united Central America, emphasizing one far from drug traffic and organized crime.
