The executive director of the COPREDEH, Anabela Rivera, stressed the selfless work of the Cuban doctors in the most remote regions of Guatemala and extolled the opening of two ophthalmologic centers where thousand of patients have received vision-restoring eye surgery. "The Cuban doctors have saved many lives in Guatemala," said Rivera to Prensa Latina after announcing the presentation of the award to the island's medical brigade December 6.
