Speaking during one of the sessions of the 2nd International Congress on Animal Production that is taking place at the Havana-based Institute of Animal Science (ICA) with the presence of 400 delegates from 14 countries, Barrueco recalled that it was on Fidel's initiative that the first steps were taken since the very triumph of the Revolution to build these centers, many of which enjoy great international prestige today. "One of these institutions is the ICA, where we are today," he noted. Since its creation 42 years ago, the Institute of Animal Science has carried out important works and researches in the fields of animal production, transference of technology at different productive scales and systems, and in the training of technicians, professionals, producers and specialists from Cuba and other countries. The use of the advances of biotechnology, physiology, biochemistry, genetics and biomathematics as well as the use of pastures and forage as the main source of food for animals, has allowed ICA to attain important results that have contributed to the development of cattle-raising on the island. Representatives from 10 universities, as well as eight research centers and a dozen companies of agricultural and livestock production are the attending 2nd International Congress on Animal Production, which will run until November 29. * ================================================================= NY Transfer News Collective * A Service of Blythe Systems Since 1985 - Information for the Rest of Us Our main website: http://www.blythe.org List Archives: http://blythe-systems.com/pipermail/nytr/ Subscribe: http://blythe-systems.com/mailman/listinfo/nytr =================================================================
