The event is taking place under the auspices of the World Trade Union Federation and it began with the discussion of the theme 'Benefits of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA) in front of the Free Trade Area of the Americas and other treaties promoted by the United States.' Other topics on the agenda include the international trade union movement and its development as well as the workers' need to create a common front in defense of their interests. Delegates will also analyze the impact of neoliberal globalization around the world and particularly in Latin America, and they will learn about the norms and procedures of the International Labor Organization. Participants at the seminar, which will run until December 9, will also discuss topics such as political systems, employment and unemployment, and Europe-Latin America relations.
