Members of the Mexican Jurists Union and the National Jurists Union of Cuba recently penned an agreement that includes the support of the case of the Cuban Five. Jose Eduardo Torres, secretary of Education of the Mexican Jurists Union said Cuban and Mexican lawyers will strengthen bonds in the legal field, while increasing collaborative actions, reported Prensa Latina. "For that reason we demand that justice be served in the case of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez," who have been held in jails since 1998 after being sentenced in a fraudulent trial in the American city of Miami, said Torres. Mexican jurists decry the arbitrary acts committed against the Cuban Five, who had the mission of warning Cuba of criminal activities planned by Miami-based terrorist groups, added Torres. Torres contrasted the treatment of the Five's case to that of international terrorist Luis Posada Carriles, who was set free by US authorities despite his long criminal record. ycr/pr * ================================================================= NY Transfer News Collective * A Service of Blythe Systems Since 1985 - Information for the Rest of Us Our main website: http://www.blythe.org List Archives: http://blythe-systems.com/pipermail/nytr/ Subscribe: http://blythe-systems.com/mailman/listinfo/nytr =================================================================
