International Representatives from Seaport Cities to Meet in Cuba

Havana, Sept 26 (acn) Representatives from some 10 seaport cities will 
gather in the Cuban capital from October 3-5 to discuss the 
military-strategic importance of harbors.

The colloquium, which is the second of its kind held on the island, 
will focus on Havana and its accelerated pace of development, reported 
the Trabajadores newspaper.

Another topic of discussion will be the socioeconomic impact of the new 
commercial and maritime routes from Havana, which was the main port of 
call of Spanish ships to the European continent throughout the 19th 
century.

Specialists from Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Spain, Honduras, 
Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Cuba will also discuss society, 
urbanization and culture in the seaport cities, and the implementation 
of state-of-the-art technology in harbors.
