Latin American Congress on Psychology Underway in Cuba

Havana, Sept 14 (acn) The Cuban family in today's Latin American 
context is one of the main topics of debate at the Second Congress of 
the Latin American Union of Psychology Entities (ULAPSI) underway in 
this capital.

The meeting is chaired by the President of the Cuban Society of 
Psychology, Dr. Patricia Ares, and attended by over 700 delegates from 
eleven countries.

During the meeting, Cuba presented its achievements in the fields of 
education, community psychology, sports, arts and healthcare.

Likewise, more than 20,000 young people are currently studying in the 
169 provincial university branches across the island thanks to the 
educational policies implemented by the Cuban socialist government.

Other topics of debate include the impact of globalization on Latin 
America's psychology; social, economic and political scenarios; the 
training of professionals in the region; and today's priorities and 
prospects.

The ULAPSI Congress is taking place in Havana from September 12 to 14 
under the sponsorship of the Cuban Society of Psychology.
