Delegation of Cuban Women Attend International Event

Havana, Sept 13 (acn) A delegation of Cuban women representing the 
Cuban Workers Confederation (CTC) is in Brussels, Belgium, to 
participate in the International Conference 'Working Women in Today's 
World and the Role of the Classist Trade Union Movement.'

The event, called by the World Union Federation (WUF), takes place on 
September 13-14 and aims at promoting an international exchange of 
experiences on the problems that working women face today.

The WUF General Secretary, Giorgos Mavrikos, said that unemployment, 
poverty, exploitation and physical violence are some of the main 
problems that affect working women in a world where neo-liberal 
policies prevail and added that this situation is caused by the 
policies carried out by transnationals as well as by the US government 
and its allies, including the European Union.

Mavrikos stressed that the international trade union movement does not 
remain neutral but it studies, analyzes and organizes their resistance 
and actions to eradicate these evils.
