Parliamentarians from 79 Countries Condemn US Blockade of Cuba

Havana, Sept 12 (acn) Delegations from 79 countries demanded the end of 
US extraterritorial laws and the financial, trade and economic blockade 
against Cuba during the Ninth Sessions of the Parliamentary Assembly of 
the Group of African, Caribbean and Pacific countries (ACP) held in 
Brussels, Belgium.

According to the Juventud Rebelde news daily, the resolution presented 
by the head of the Cuban delegation to the meeting, deputy Rogelio 
Polanco, was approved by acclaim and also reiterates the support of the 
member countries to the resolutions passed by the UN General Assembly 
in this regard.

The document includes the support of the ACP Parliamentary Assembly, of 
which Cuba is a full member, to the Declaration of Heads of State and 
Government of this group approved during their last Summit held in 
Khartoum, Sudan, in 2006, which expressed their strong rejection of any 
unilateral and extraterritorial laws.

The resolution passed on this occasion also urges the co-president of 
this parliamentary body to inform the presidents of the ACP and 
ACP-European Union councils of ministers, as well as the European 
Parliament and the Inter-Parliamentary Union, about its content.
