Paraguayan Opposition Alliance Ratifies Lugo as Candidate

Asuncion, Sept 7 (Prensa Latina) Leaders of Concertacion Nacional
Opositora de Paraguay ratified their support for presidential candidate
Fernando Lugo, a former priest, for the 2008 elections.

The presidents of the parties Liberal Radical Autentico (PLRA), Blas
Llano; Pais Solidario, Carlos Filizzola, and Ecuentro Nacional, Emilio
Camacho, stressed that the release of ex General Lino Oviedo will not
change their decision.

"There is no return," Llano, Filizzola and Camacho agreed. They pointed
out that the election schedule does not allow waiting for the ex
military officer, who was released on Thursday after being sentenced
for trying to stage a coup d',tat, to have his political rights
reinstated.

Next Monday is the deadline to register the presidential candidates,
said the three politicians, adding that they will support the Lugo-PLRA
formula to run against the governing Partido Colorado.
