Varadero Jam Session Has Come to Stay

Varadero, Cuba, Sept 7 (Prensa Latina) Directed by Cuban composer and
pianist Chucho Valdes, Varadero Jam Session has taken its own path,
bringing together different generations of jazz musicians.

Sponsored by the ministries of Tourism and Culture, the festival, which
is being attended by guest musicians from Bahamas and Bolivia, will
close on Sunday.

On Thursday, Jojazz award-winning musicians performed at the festival.
Referring to them, Chucho Valdes said, "I feel very proud of this new
generation that includes excellent musicians like Harold Lopez Nussa
and Rolando Luna, among others."

The opening concert was held at a packed hall of Plaza America, where
the founder of Irakere and his quartet invited a constellation of
guests to create an intense and highly artistic atmosphere.

Musicians improvised and challenged one another, setting their
creativity and imagination free.

Chucho Valdes looked like a happy patriarch in his kingdom, promoting a
musical genre that he has absorbed since childhood and to which he has
remained loyal.

Everybody agrees that Varadero Jam Session has come to stay.

Cuba Prepares for High Tourist Season

Varadero, Cuba, 7 sep (Prensa Latina) Cuban tourism authorities are
gearing up for the busy winter season, not only improving services and
logistics, but instituting a new concept of small heritage inns and
working to make Cuba a "huge cultural plaza."

Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero told Prensa Latina on Friday of the
work done to offer renovated facilities with excellent service and to
promote Cuba as the ideal tourist destination.

He mentioned the investment project all over the Island focusing on
Encanto hotels, "exquisite, exotic, exuberant, exceptional and
emblematic buildings."

These small and mid-size hotels have heritage and local and national
cultural value and are to be models of personalized service.

Special Limited Habanos on Market Today

Havana, Sep 7 (Prensa Latina) For the seventh year, Habanos S.A.
authorities announced the presentation Friday of their 2007 Limited
Editions, cigars made of two-year old tobacco leaves, a novelty awaited
by tobacco aficionados.

The Ediciones Limitadas 2007 is especially aimed for tobacco collectors
and demanding smokers, and includes Trinidad Ingenios, Romeo y Julieta
Escudos and Hoyo de Monterrey Regalos.

Since 2000, Habanos S.A. has presented 24 special cigars from its most
world-renowned brands, such as Cohiba, Montecristo, Partagas and Romeo
y Julieta.
