Recount Confirms Jamaican Labour Party Victory

Kingston, Sep 6 (Prensa Latina) The victory of the Jamaican Labour
Party is more secure Thursday after the Electoral Commission recount
found the group won 33 seats in the Monday elections.

Preliminary recounts give a two-seat difference between the JLP and
National People's Party of Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller.

These Jamaican elections were marked by accusations of fraud and
Simpson-Miller's declaration that she will denounce JLP candidates in
court who hold dual citizenship (Jamaica-US), which legally
disqualifies them from holding public posts.
