Lino Oviedo, who had been imprisoned since 2004 in a ten-year sentence for an attempted coup. The immediate release of Lino Oviedo is because he has served more than 50 percent of his penal sentence, Col. Carlos Liseras, president of the court that made the decision, said Thursday. Recently Oviedo had achieved parole by habeas corpus for the trials due to the death of former Vice President Luis Maria Argana and the massacre of 1999. He was confined to a military prison outside Asuncion after he was found guilty for the coup attempt against the government of Juan Carlos Wasmosy in April 1996, for which he was sentenced to 10 years. In June 2004, he turned himself into Paraguayan justice, insisting he had been the victim of a conspiracy, after he had been in exile as a political refugee first in Argentina, and later in Brazil. ef ccs tac tpa * ================================================================= .NY Transfer News Collective * A Service of Blythe Systems .
