Golinger Warns of USAID Covert Campaign in Bolivia

Caracas, Sept 6 (Prensa Latina) US lawyer Eva Golinger warned on
Thursday that it would be difficult for Washington to stop interfering
in Bolivia, as demanded by that country's president, Evo Morales.

In an article published on local media, Golinger, who disclosed
unclassified US documents on the financing of Venezuela's opposition,
said that a similar scheme is being implemented in Bolivia.

She added that the United States Agency for International Development
(USAID) opened an office in Bolivia in 2004 to speed up transition
under the pretext of reducing tension in zones of social conflicts and
backing local elections.

Golinger pointed out that the USAID contracted the services of the US
company Casals Associates Inc. to handle more than 13.3 million dollars
granted to 379 organizations, political parties and projects in Bolivia.

In Bolivia, she said, that office focuses on fighting and influencing
the Constituent Assembly and separatism in regions that are rich in
natural resources like Santa Cruz and Cochabamba.

Most of the 13.3 million dollars, she said, have gone to organizations
and programs to "reinforce the regional governments" in detriment of
the national government.

Golinger explained that another strategy consists of infiltrating
indigenous communities, promoting the capitalist model and influencing
the media with pro-US and anti-socialist propaganda.
