ELN delegate in Caracas to meet with ChC!vez

Colombian guerrilla leader "Francisco GalC!n," a delegate of the
National Liberation Army (ELN) to peace talks with the Colombian
government, traveled to Caracas to meet with Venezuelan President Hugo
ChC!vez, sources close to the process said on Wednesday.

Moris Ackerman, member of the civil committees supporting dialogue with
ELN, told radio station RCN that Francisco GalC!n traveled to Caracas on
Tuesday to pave the way to resume the talks launched ending 2005 in
Cuba. The eighth round of talks was completed last August with no
agreement.

Last August 31st, ChC!vez visited Bogota and said Venezuela could be the
seat for future talks.

Ackerman stated that "Francisco GalC!n," whose real name is Gerardo
BermC:dez, traveled to Venezuela "to develop all of these processes."

The rebel was arrested in 1992 and sentenced to 15 years in jail. Last
year, he was authorized to leave the prison and become a delegate to
peace talks.
