Eleven such equipment are operating in China, while the rest are being used in Latin America, mainly in Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia and Argentina. Over 51 million diagnostic tests have been carried out in Cuba over the past 25 years through different national health programs by using the SUMA equipment. Every pregnant women is submitted to tests in order to detect any possible congenital malformation, Hepatitis B and HIV/AIDS; therefore HIV/AIDS-carrying mothers may have healthy children after measures are taken to prevent the transmission of the disease to the child. A local blood certification program has prevented the transmission of at least 882 HIV-AIDS cases, 31,381 Hepatitis B and 26,967 Hepatitis C cases.
