[NYTr] Chile Prepares for Ibero-American Summit Date: Thu, 6 Sep 2007 16:49:31 -0500 (CDT) Via NY Transfer News Collective * All the News that Doesn't Fit Prensa Latina, Havana http://www.plenglish.com Chile Prepares for Ibero-American Summit Santiago, Chile, Sep 6 (Prensa Latina) Chile inaugurated the second preparatory meeting of Coordinators and Heads of International Cooperation on Thursday for the 17th Ibero-American Summit in November. The 48-hour meeting in Vina del Mar, led by Acting Summit Secretary Ambassador Carlos Portales, involves 22 countries from Latin America and the Caribbean and Europe. They will gauge success of accords from previous meetings, the conclusions of the Seminar on Social Cohesion organized by the SEGIB and the Latin American and Caribbean Economic Commission, plus three regional meetings held in June and July. On Friday the debates will focus on the new strategy of Ibero-American cooperation, plus their programs and initiatives for the Summit whose main topic will be "Social Cohesion and social policies to achieve more inclusive societies."
