Venezuela Denounces Media Campaign Against Social Progress

Caracas, Sep 5 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan Attorney General Isaias
Rodriguez called to stop the media's attempt to impose a dictatorship
on the country as an instrument to cripple social changes.

At a forum Wednesday on media terrorism convened by the NGO Journalists
for the Truth (Periodistas por la Verdad), Rodriguez assured that from
experience the best defense is to attack.

He pointed out that the ranks of the media that turned that tool into
"a source to fight or try and stop social changes" continue to shrink
due to growing awareness and opposition to pressure.

Media terrorism "is a technique that relies on violence to terrorize
and intimidate the people, society and the government" to impose an
ideology tied to the economic interests of a ruling class.

That sector "has been losing power lately and will definitely lose
power completely," added the attorney general.
