The trip by Garrido was officially announced for September 12 and will last four days, during which he will meet with Yale authorities. The university has about five thousand archaeological objects from the Inca period that Hiram Bingham removed from Machu Picchu a century ago. Bingham is attributed the discovery of Machu Picchu, although the indigenous people knew of its existence, and today it is the main Peruvian tourism destination. The US adventurer removed most of the pieces during his investigation, promising to return them but never honoring his word. The Housing Minister added that there will be a search for funds to build a new museum in Cusco. hr/mrs/avp/mf * ================================================================= .NY Transfer News Collective * A Service of Blythe Systems .
