New US ambassador arrives in Venezuela

The new US ambassador to Caracas, Patrick D. Duddy, is set to arrive
Wednesday night to Venezuela, said the diplomatic mission in a press
release, reported AFP.

Duddy, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Tom Shannon, the top US diplomatic
official for Latin America, is to replace former ambassador William
Brownfield, who was appointed to the US mission in BogotC!.

In February, the Venezuelan Government gave its approval to Duddy
designation as new US ambassador.

Ending January, President Hugo ChC!vez said he could declare Brownfield
persona non grata for saying the press he expected that Venezuela
carried out nationalization of private companies in a transparent,
legal fashion, and including a just compensation.
