Links between the Colombian Navy and mafia were brought to light last week when the retirement of Adm. Gabriel Arango Bacci was announced, and although he claims innocence, the minister of Defense confirmed he is subject of a thorough investigation. The Attorney General's Office and naval counter intelligence bodies have been compiling documents and recordings for a year and a half in which those military officers are mentioned. Inquiries started in Barranquilla in January 2006, when coastguards seized a cocaine shipment on the Colombian ship, Guayacan with charts containing coordinates of national and other nations' patrol boats. hr/ccs/ajs/rc * ================================================================= .NY Transfer News Collective * A Service of Blythe Systems .
