Carlos Alberto Gil Londono was arrested by the Attorney General's Office for involvement in the military drug-trafficking scandal, it was announced Thursday. Gil is believed to be responsible for the transportation of an armed group to free a brother of a Valle del Cauca drug cartel chief, who was in Combita Prison in Boyaca. Local TV revealed Gil turned himself in last night and a warrant for conspiracy to commit a crime was officially given. Gil is viewed by the prosecutor as an important link in the contacts of the drug-trafficking gang. Ret. Capt. Manuel Pinzon has already been tied to the process and was arrested in this capital, and warrants have been issued for another three officers.
