In a press release, the Education Ministry explained that several projects are being implemented in prisons across the country, including elementary and secondary studies. According to Mario Rivera, director of the campaign that began last July, their goal is to contribute to the social reintegration of all those serving sentences. Rivera added that they are also organizing a plan to teach the disabled. The Nicaraguan literacy campaign, called "From MartC- to Fidel" as a sign of appreciation for Cuba's assistance, also includes the indigenous communities of the Atlantic coast. More than 50 thousand people are participating in the first stage of the campaign.
