According to his schedule for Monday, Lula is expected to meet Mexican and Brazilian business people and lay a wreath at the Altar to the Homeland, in Chapultepec Forest, after which he will be received by his Mexican peer, Felipe Calderon, at the National Palace. Both presidents are expected to hold close and open-door meetings and sign agreements. The Brazilian Foreign Ministry's Director for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, Gonzalo Mourao, recently commented that there is an intense rapprochement between Brazil and Mexico, expected to be intensified during this trip. He added that the main objective of this visit is to give a boost to trade between both countries in order to double exchanges by 2010 (it reached 1.70 million last year). The Brazilian President is also expected to meet with representatives of the Upper House of Congress and with the head of Government of the Federal District, Marcelo Ebrard. Lula's tour will also take him to Nicaragua, Honduras, Jamaica and Panama.
